Joel H. Carlson founded Carlson Company in 1958 to provide machined flanges for equ0ipment used in the refining and petrochemical industries. Prior to his death, the business was transitioned to the second generation in 1993 and still remains a family business committed to providing quality products and service to the industry.
Jim Carlson, President and CEO, Jeff Carlson, Vice-President, and Joyce Carlson , CFO, have more than 75 years of combined experience with the company, and many of our employees have over 10 years of service.
Over the last decade, the company has invested heavily in large diameter CNC machines that contributed to tremendous growth in the business by serving such diversified markets as military, wind power, power plant generation, food processing, and utilities. As our capabilities to machine large flange diameters and weights grew, Carlson Company realized the need to meet tighter tolerance specifications for bolt hole spacing.
In 2002, Jim Carlson invented and patented the Computer Controlled Positioning Table – The Carlson Chord Right (U.S. Patent No. 6948720). The Chord Right raises the standard in the way bolt circles are drilled and delivers accuracy to within 5 to 7 thousandths of an inch.
In 2008, Carlson Company built a state-of-the-art 35,000 square foot manufacturing and office facility, while still operating in the original facility for production, shipping, and warehousing.
The combination of expanded turning capabilities, computer controlled precision bolt hole placement, a state-of-the art facility, and longevity and stability in ownership and management has put Carlson Company in the forefront of large diameter flange manufacturers.
